PDF Floret Farm's Discovering Dahlias: A Guide to Growing and Arranging Magnificent Blooms with FREE MOBI EDITION!

This is a typical Floret book. Beautiful photographs ( lots of photographs) but not a lot of substance. If you’ve never grown Dahlias then this might be a good place to start but if you have any experience with this plant, you may find this book simplistic, just covering basic information that one could easily find elsewhere. I was disappointed that she only devoted one paragraph to the disease crown gall, which seems to be everywhere, very common & a huge problem in the dahlia world. Powdery mildew barely gets mentioned. As far as pests, she does not even mention that dahlias are gopher candy, one of the biggest problems growers have. There are some great photographs in the dividing section & if you've never done this, the description/ photos are good. The section on advanced techniques, breeding etc is a decent introduction but if you’re really into it, Kristine Albrecht is the expert & has written an amazing book on the subject. (Erin does refer to her work & acknowledges her achievements.). Over half of this book is just pictures of varieties. The photographs are beautiful but it feels like filler for a book that’s lean on content. This is a beautiful coffee table book but go elsewhere for serious information on growing dahlias.
